Medical Disclaimer
Crosstrainer is designed for fitness tracking and informational purposes only. It is not intended to provide medical advice or substitute for professional healthcare consultation. Please consult a physician before beginning any new exercise or diet program.
Terms of Use
By using Crosstrainer, you agree to these terms. Standard app usage is free, while premium features (such as data backup/restore and advanced stats) require an active subscription managed exclusively through your device's app store (Apple App Store or Google Play Store).
Data Collection
Crosstrainer respects your privacy. As a local-first application, we do not require you to create an account, and we do not track, monitor, or automatically upload your health or exercise data. Nothing is sent to our servers as a matter of course.
There are two optional features that you must actively start, and which do send data to a server: the cloud backup described in Section 4, and trainer pairing described in Section 5. If you never use them, no personal data leaves your device.
Data Storage and Cloud Backup
Day to day, all of your profile information, workout histories, route recordings, diet logs, weigh-ins and custom exercises are saved on your device's local database. Nothing is uploaded automatically.
If you choose to create a backup, the app makes a copy of that local database, compresses it, and uploads it over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection to a Crosstrainer server, so that you can restore it later or move to a new device. You must start this yourself from the app menu; it never happens on its own or on a schedule.
Because the backup is a copy of the whole database, it contains everything the app has stored, including:
- your profile details, and the email address and name you supply when backing up;
- workout, cardio and wellness history, weigh-ins, and diet logs;
- GPS routes you have recorded, and any workout and route data you imported from Apple Health or Health Connect.
Backups are stored solely so that you can restore them. They are not analysed, profiled, sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising. You can ask us to delete any backup you have created — see Section 6.
Trainer Pairing
If your personal trainer uses Crosstrainer, you may optionally pair with them by entering a pairing code. Doing so contacts our trainer service and stores an access token on your device so the app can download the workouts and appointments your trainer has assigned to you.
While paired, the app may send your trainer's service the pairing code, and any note you write when cancelling or rescheduling an appointment. Pairing is entirely optional, and if you never enter a code, the app makes no contact with the trainer service at all.
Deleting Your Data
Crosstrainer does not create a user account, so in normal use there is no server-side profile to delete. To erase everything held on your device, uninstall the application or clear its storage in your device settings.
If you have created a cloud backup (Section 4), a copy of your data is held on our server until you ask us to remove it. To have it permanently deleted, email support@crosstrainerapp.com from the address you used when backing up, and we will delete it. Uninstalling the app alone does not remove a backup you have already uploaded.
Health Data and Integrations
If you choose to integrate with Apple Health or Google Health Connect, Crosstrainer only reads or writes data as explicitly permitted by you on your device. This includes optionally importing a completed workout you select — its activity type, distance, calories, heart rate, and GPS route — from your health app. Anything read from Apple Health or Health Connect is stored on your device and is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising or any other purpose. It is only sent to our servers if you choose to create a cloud backup (Section 4), which includes imported health data in the database copy it uploads.
Crosstrainer never uses health data for advertising or data mining, and does not share it with Google AdMob or any other third party.
Location Data
Crosstrainer may request access to your device's precise location (GPS) solely to power the optional Route Tracker feature, which maps your runs, walks, and sports sessions. Location data is used exclusively to calculate distance, pace, speed, and to draw your route on-screen.
How location data is handled:
- Location is only accessed when you explicitly start a route tracking session.
- Background location access is used solely to continue recording your route accurately when your screen is locked during an active session.
- Your GPS route data is stored on your device and is never shared with third parties. It is not transmitted to our servers unless you choose to create a cloud backup, which uploads a copy of your whole database — routes included (see Section 4).
- You may also choose to import a past workout and its GPS route from Apple Health or Health Connect; an imported route is stored on your device on the same terms, and is likewise only sent to our servers if you create a backup.
- You may deny location permission at any time via your device settings. All other app features remain fully functional without location access.
We do not use location data for advertising, analytics, or any purpose other than the Route Tracker and Health import features described above.
Advertising
Crosstrainer displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect and use device identifiers (such as your Advertising ID), approximate location, and app usage data to serve ads, including personalized ads. For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), we request your consent before any personalized advertising data is collected, in compliance with GDPR. You can manage your ad preferences at any time via the "Ad Preferences" option in the app's menu. If you choose not to consent, you may still see ads, but they will not be personalized. Premium subscribers enjoy an ad-free experience.
Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the following rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR): the right to access your personal data; the right to rectification of inaccurate data; the right to erasure of your data; the right to restrict or object to processing; and the right to data portability. You also have the right to withdraw your consent for personalized advertising at any time through the "Ad Preferences" option in the app menu, without affecting the lawfulness of processing prior to withdrawal. Because Crosstrainer is a local-first application, the vast majority of your data resides solely on your device and is not accessible to us. To exercise any of these rights regarding data processed by third-party services (such as AdMob), please contact us at support@crosstrainerapp.com.
Analytics and Crash Reporting
Crosstrainer does not use any third-party analytics or crash-reporting service. When the app encounters an error, the details are written to its local database on your device to help with troubleshooting, and are not uploaded to us or to anyone else.
The only third party that receives usage data is Google AdMob, for advertising, as described in Section 9.
AI Recommendations and Availability
Any AI-powered recommendations generated by Crosstrainer are for informational and suggestion purposes only. AI features rely on external services and may not always be available or perfectly accurate. You should always use your best judgment and consult a professional before acting on AI suggestions.
Age Restrictions
Crosstrainer is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect any data from children.
Limitation of Liability
The developer of Crosstrainer shall not be held liable for any injuries, damages, or data loss resulting from the use of this application. Always back up your data locally using your device settings.

These terms and conditions may be updated over time to reflect changes in our app, services, or legal requirements. We encourage users to attempt to review them on a regular basis to stay informed.
